New application “Augmented Terrassa”

Introducing the first App dedicated to the industrial heritage of Terrassa based on Augmented Reality technology. On Wednesday May 7th a new application for smartphones and tablets that offers a journey through Terrassa’s industrial and modernist buildings supported with the technology of Augmented Reality will be launched at the city’s museum mNACTEC (National Museum of Science and Technology of Catalonia).

i2CAT fosters the creation of 3D models of the archaeological site in Empúries

This activity, as a result of the collaboration with the Department of Architectural Graphic Expression at the UPC University, aims to develop 3D reproductions of the sites for an augmented reality application on heritage. From 1-4th of May, members of the i2CAT’s Audiovisual Unit, in collaboration with students and faculty of the UPC University, are celebrating a joint work at the Museum of Archaeology of Catalonia (MAC), with the purpose of study the well-known ruins of Empúries and reshape, from architectural references, the most emblematic buildings of the Greek and Roman sites.

HIPERMED receives the Silver Award at Celtic-Plus 2014

Last 23rd April, 2014, as a result of the outcomes and impact of the HIPERMED Project, in which i2CAT played a very significant role (Technical Coordinator), the industry-driven European research initiative Celtic-Plus, decided to give the Silver Excellence Award in the Celtic-Plus Event 2014, hosted in Monte-Carlo (Monaco).

Only a week to the first workshop of the project RICHES

The workshop will be celebrated on Tuesday next week, May 13th, at The Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC) Barcelona’s Campus and will serve as the foundation of the RICHES Project research areas. The workshop outcomes will establish an initial agreement of basic definitions and frameworks which will delineate RICHES’ fields of research and further study on the context of change in which European Cultural Heritage (CH) is transmitted and on the role of CH in the economic and social development of Europe.

Ends the CCMA Hackathon

The first edition of the CCMA Hackathon dedicated to the development of interactive projects, was held for 24 hours without interruption, the 2nd and 3rd of May at Arts Santa Monica in Barcelona. The marathon was organized by the Department of Digital Media CCMA, the Department of Culture of the Generalitat of Catalonia during the 4C Digital conference.
