i2CAT joins the Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC).

i2CAT has become one of the outstanding members of this public-private partnership made up of corporate leaders in industry & technology, plus academics, researchers and public organizations.

All these stakeholders are collaborating to accelerate the integration of the physical and digital worlds for transformational change.

ICC is working to identify, define and rollout the recommendations that will accelerate the growth of the Industrial Internet.

Industrial Internet Consortium Working Groups coordinate and establish the priorities and enabling technologies of the Industrial Internet in order to accelerate market adoption and drive down the barriers to entry. There are currently 19 Working Groups and teams, broken into 7 broad areas:

  • Business Strategy and Solution Lifecycle

  • Legal

  • Marketing

  • Membership

  • Security

  • Technology

  • Testbeds

Thus, though these working groups, the Industrial Internet Consortium® (IIC™) is setting the architectural framework and direction for the Industrial Internet.

Founded by AT&T, Cisco, GE, IBM and Intel in March 2014, the consortium’s mission is to coordinate vast ecosystem initiatives to connect and integrate objects with people, processes and data using common architectures, interoperability and open standards.

Nowadays has a huge number of members that represent large and small industry, entrepreneurs, academics and government organizations with an interest in helping to shape and grow the Industrial Internet.
