i2CAT present the Smart City Expo

i2CAT will be present in the next edition of the professional world leader event in the field of Smart Cities, the Smart City Expo, which will take place from 18 to 20 November at the Fira Gran Via Barcelona. With an own booth located in the space of the Government of Catalonia (B232) i2CAT will demonstrate, firstly, a new technology applicable to the development of smart cities infrastructures, and also an application on the MOVERIO smart glasses of Epson.

Regarding the new technology for Smart Cities, it will drastically reduce the cost of deploying sensor infrastructure and time in the creation, validation and deployment of new services, which are one of the biggest factors hindering the adoption of Smart Cities. According to this technology, very low power sensors can be spread throughout the city achieving lifetimes of several years. To minimize infrastructure related costs, mobile gateways mounted on public vehicles are used to retrieve the data stored in the deployed sensors that the vehicle founds along the way. The demonstration of this technology will be held on Thursday the 20th, accompanied by a presentation on deployment models of infrastructure sensors in smart cities.

In relation to the MOVERIO smart glasses, on Wednesday 19th it will be presented the agreement between Epson and i2CAT to create a Competence Center that allows fostering the development of new products and services on MOVERIO technology in different areas, such as industry, health, culture, among others.

Moreover, the Government of Catalonia will present on 19th the SmartCAT strategy, to make of Catalonia a reference Smart Region to the world in which i2CAT also participates.
