Josep Batallé wins the “Student ICT Research Project”

Josep Batallé wins the Student ICT Research Project Competition at ICT 2013 for his MSc thesis on routing function delocalisation using SDN, developed at DANA

It’s a great pleasure for us to communicate that Josep Batallé, a MSc student at the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) who developed his thesis with us at DANA, has won the Student ICT Research Project Competition 2013 at the ICT 2013 event in Vilnius.

Josep’s thesis, titled “Experimentation on Virtualized Routing Function Migration Using OpenFlow“, uses two complementary technology approaches (SDN and NFV) to showcase the feasibility of virtualising the routing function in a network mesh à la NFV using OpenFlow for data-control plane signaling and a novel protocol for control-management plane signaling. The demonstrator has been built using Open vSwitch over a Mininet environment, a debugged and extended Floodlight controller for OpenFlow and OpenNaaS as routing platform and user interface.

Congratulations Josep!
