The second part of the IVC - Immersive VideoConferencing begins

After several days of preparation, today begins the visit of Swing:IT in the laboratories of the UPC-MOVING group for the implementation of IVC (Immersive VideoConferencing) project. The TNA (trans-national action) funded by the VISIONAIR project (EC FP7 Grant Agreement 262044) between the i2CAT Audiovisual Unit, the MOVING group and Swing:IT, as representatives of the VESPA Project aims at the integration of a very low latency and high quality system of videoconferencing, using one CAVE as capture and display elements. The system will demonstrate the feasibility and performance of the proposed solution, and initial validation tests for the scenario proposed by the project VESPA will be carried out. The challenge is to achieve that a patient in a CAVE can communicate with his/her doctor, who remotely and in real time, could analyse his/her movements and reactions in conducting various tests of cognitive and motor system. This is the first step towards future replications of CAVEs system and other facilities in Europe.
