Informacio

Description

The project aims to develop an integrated platform, which allows transmitting and receiving location and vital signs data from patients in healthcare environment, which is low cost and non-invasive for patients. As well as the associated management software platform, it will be integrated into the information system of health centers.

As a result of the project it will be created a system-prototype that will be evaluated within the healthcare center. The solution can be integrated into the management system of the center, in order to validate the utility of the system in the context of service management. The primary aim is to reduce inefficiency in resource management, for mapping and monitoring of patients.

Innovation

Industrial research and development will focus on the creation of a hybrid network, which combines the use of active RFID with mesh wireless communication in a single device. Patients will use a bracelet, containing an active sensor that will monitor their vital constants. Beacons will have the ability to create communication paths dynamically, to deliver the received data to the principal network and the management system, as well as communicating with RFID bracelets.

An active sensor will be placed in a bracelet on the patient's wrist. Parameters to be monitored:

  • Falls detection (incorporating accelerometers)
  • Body temperature
  • Pulse
